Traffic Disruptions in Pune Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit: Road Closures Cause Inconvenience

Pune is currently experiencing traffic chaos as several main roads, including the city centre, have been closed in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit. The PM is set to receive the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award from the Tilak Smarak Samiti during his visit to the city. While the local administration, state government, and BJP are working meticulously to welcome him, the traffic restrictions have caused inconvenience to Pune residents.

As part of the security measures, a dry run session was conducted by the Pune Police to prepare for PM Modi’s convoy route through the city. During this dry run, major roads such as Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, Tilak Road, and Fergusson Road were temporarily closed to traffic, leading to disruptions and significant traffic congestion. Barricades were placed at intersections, resulting in long queues of vehicles and adding to the frustration of commuters.

Many Pune residents have expressed their dissatisfaction and questioned the need to halt traffic for the PM’s event. Students and parents, on their way to school, were particularly affected by the sudden inconvenience caused by the traffic restrictions. Additionally, some have raised concerns about conducting the dry run during the daytime, which further exacerbated the traffic situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s itinerary includes a visit to the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati temple on Shivaji Road, where he will offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. Following that, he will attend the Lokmanya Tilak Award ceremony at Sir Parashurambhau College, organized by the Tilak Smarak Samiti. Furthermore, PM Modi is scheduled to inaugurate various development projects at the Shivajinagar police headquarters during his visit. As a result, a significant police presence has been deployed on key roads in Pune’s city centre and nearby areas to ensure security during the event.

While the preparations are essential to ensure the PM’s safety and a smooth event, the traffic disruptions have inconvenienced the public. The local authorities are urged to take measures to alleviate the traffic congestion and minimize inconvenience to the residents of Pune during the Prime Minister’s visit. Ensuring smooth traffic flow and timely communication of road closures will be crucial to mitigating the impact on the city’s daily activities.
