Traffic Chaos in Viman Nagar: Citizen Activist Lambasts PMC Over Prolonged Drainage Work

Traffic woes have escalated in Viman Nagar due to ongoing drainage work near the Kailash Supermarket Chowk, exacerbating congestion and inconvenience for commuters. Qaneez Sukhrani, a concerned resident and activist, has criticized the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for the lack of effective traffic management amidst the prolonged construction activities.

According to Sukhrani, the entire road has been rendered impassable due to the drainage work, with no visible presence of police personnel to regulate traffic flow. While the contractor has erected signage to alert motorists, the absence of proper coordination has led to confusion and frequent traffic jams in the area.

Residents of Viman Nagar express growing concern over the protracted duration of the drainage work, which has significantly disrupted daily commutes. One resident noted that progress seems minimal during the day, only to resume in the evening amidst peak traffic hours, further compounding the challenges for motorists navigating through the area. Despite sporadic assistance from traffic police, the situation remains dire.

The drainage construction project spans from Hermes Drome to Kailash Supermarket Chowk, affecting a substantial stretch of road. The prolonged stagnation of this critical infrastructure work has prompted residents to urge swift completion to alleviate the ongoing traffic disruptions and restore normalcy to the area.
