Traffic Changes Enforced on Ganeshkhind Road from March 22 to Alleviate Congestion Woes

In response to persistent traffic congestion along Ganeshkhind Road, authorities in Pune have declared significant traffic alterations set to be enforced from March 22. These adjustments aim to mitigate the daily gridlock experienced by motorists navigating the area, particularly near the Acharya Anandrishiji Chowk adjacent to the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus.

Rohidas Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, disclosed the forthcoming changes, emphasizing the necessity of addressing the traffic challenges exacerbated by concurrent construction activities including the flyover and metro development projects along Ganeshkhind Road.

Effective immediately, the following modifications will be implemented:

  1. Closure of right-hand entry from Senapati Bapat Road Junction towards Acharya Anandrishiji Chowk, directing motorists to utilize a U-turn in front of Cosmos Bank and proceed via Senapati Bapat Road junction.
  2. Prohibition of right turns at Range Hills corner for vehicles traveling from Shivajinagar on Ganeshkhind Road towards Range Hills, with an alternative route guiding drivers to execute a U-turn in front of Cosmos Bank and then proceed left towards Range Hills.
  3. Shutdown of access for vehicles destined for Aundh, Sangvi, and Dange Chowk from the square in front of Pune University, diverting traffic to Baner Road and facilitating a U-turn behind Raj Bhavan, thereafter rejoining Aundh Road.
  4. Closure of entry for vehicles bound for Baner from Acharya Anandrishi Chowk via Baner Road, redirecting traffic to Pashan Road and subsequently guiding them towards Baner from Abhimanashree Junction.

Additionally, heavy vehicle access will be restricted along specific routes:

  • Chafekar Chowk on Ganeshkhind Road to Acharya Anandrishiji (Pune University) Chowk.
  • Bremen Chowk to Pune University Chowk on Aundh Road.
  • Abhimanashree Chowk to Pune University Chowk.
  • JW Marriott Hotel Chowk to Pune University Chowk.

These measures are anticipated to alleviate congestion and enhance the efficiency of traffic movement along Ganeshkhind Road, providing commuters with smoother and more predictable travel experiences amid ongoing infrastructural developments.
