Commuters Advised Alternate Routes for Smooth Travel Amidst Construction

Commuters traveling on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway are advised of an upcoming traffic block due to the ongoing Panvel-Karjat Double Track Suburban Rail Corridor project. The Mumbai Railway Development Corporation Ltd. will conduct construction work on the Pune Channel of the expressway at KM 07.560 (Chikhle Bridge) on April 10, 2024. Consequently, a traffic block will be enforced from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the specified date.

According to the Highway State Police, during the construction activities for the Panvel-Karjat Suburban Project, all types of vehicles, including light and heavy vehicles, will be restricted from accessing the Pune Channel on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. This measure aims to ensure smooth traffic flow, minimize congestion, and guarantee the safety of all commuters.

In compliance with sections 115 and 116(1)(c) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, all traffic on the Mumbai-bound channel (Pune to Mumbai) of the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway at KM 07.560 will be prohibited between 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on April 10, 2024.

To facilitate uninterrupted travel, alternate routes have been identified:

  • Light vehicles traveling from the Mumbai-bound channel (Mumbai to Pune) of the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway can divert from Kalamboli Circle and proceed via the Mumbai-Pune National Highway.
  • All vehicles traveling from the Mumbai-bound channel (Mumbai to Pune) will be redirected from Kalamboli Circle to Kalamboli D Point – Karanjade – Palaspe, and then onto the Mumbai-Pune National Highway.
  • Vehicles heading towards Pune on the Mumbai-bound channel (Mumbai to Pune) will be rerouted to the Pune channel of the expressway.
  • Light vehicles on the Mumbai-bound channel (Mumbai to Pune) of the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai-Pune Expressway will be guided to National Highway No. 48 (old Mumbai-Pune highway) and then onto the Pune channel of the expressway via Shingroba Ghat to Magic Point.

This traffic arrangement will remain in effect until the completion of the construction work by the Mumbai Railway Development Corporation Ltd. Commuters are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and follow the designated routes for a hassle-free travel experience.
