Traffic Alert: Pune Braces for India vs. Bangladesh World Cup Clash in Gahunje

Gahunje, 18th October 2023: The ongoing One Day Cricket World Cup Cricket Tournament 2023 has enthralled cricket fans worldwide, and one of the marquee matches, the India vs. Bangladesh clash, is set to take place on the 19th of October 2023 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, situated within the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate in Gahunje. With a significant influx of spectators expected to arrive in private vehicles to witness the match, authorities anticipate potential traffic congestion in the area.

As cricket fever sweeps through Gahunje in anticipation of this high-profile clash, authorities have announced several temporary traffic changes to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and minimize disruptions in the vicinity. Here are the key traffic adjustments that will be in effect:

  1. Krishna Chowk Access Restricted: Access to Krishna Chowk from Mamurdi Underpass (Masulkar Farm) will be prohibited. An alternate route for vehicles arriving from Lodha is recommended, involving a right turn at Mamurdi Underpass, proceeding to Krishna Chowk via Bapdev Bua.
  2. Mamurdi Underpass Entry Restriction: Entry from Mamurdi village to Mamurdi underpass (Masulkar Farm) will be restricted. Vehicles on this route are advised to head towards their destination behind Mamurdi Zakat Naka.
  3. Post-Match Parking Route Closure: Access to Mamurdi Underpass side after the match will be closed for vehicles in Parking No. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 13 in the Sainagar area. Two alternate routes are provided for these vehicles to reach their desired destination efficiently.
  4. Gahunje Bridge Y Junction Restrictions: Entry to the stadium via Gahunje bridge Y Junction will be restricted for car pass-holder vehicles and all vehicle types, excluding essential service vehicles.
  5. Dehu Road Exit Restrictions: Entry of cars coming from Mumbai and heading to the stadium from the Dehu Road exit through the service road adjacent to the expressway is prohibited for five-date vehicles and all other vehicle types except essential service vehicles.

While these traffic route modifications are temporarily implemented to accommodate the India vs. Bangladesh ODI World Cup cricket match on the 19th of October 2023, residents and motorists are encouraged to utilize alternative routes to navigate the area efficiently. The adjustments aim to facilitate a seamless experience for both cricket enthusiasts and local commuters.
