Traffic Alert: Heavy Vehicle Entry Prohibited on Pune-Mumbai Expressway for Festivals

In light of the upcoming Ganpati Visarjan and Eid-E-Milad processions, the Highway Police have issued a crucial advisory regarding the ban on entry for heavy vehicles traveling on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway to Mumbai City, Navi Mumbai, and Thane City from September 27 to September 29.

According to officials, the prohibition on heavy vehicle entry will be in effect in these three cities, starting from 12 am on September 27 and continuing until 12 am on September 29, coinciding with the conclusion of the Eid-E-Milad procession. This decision has been made to prevent potential traffic congestion resulting from the massive processions held during both festivals across the state.

Furthermore, the Highway Police have extended the entry ban for heavy vehicles to the Pune-Goa National Highway (NH 66) from 8 am on September 28 to 8 pm on September 29. During this period, all vehicles weighing 16 tonnes and above will be restricted from using the highway, a measure aimed at averting traffic disruptions.

The advisory comes as part of the authorities’ efforts to ensure smooth and hassle-free celebrations during these significant festivals, while also maintaining the safety and convenience of all road users.
