Talegaon Train Fire: Commendable Railway Response Ensures Crisis Averted

Pune, December 3, 2023: A potential disaster was narrowly averted as Train number 22194, the Gwalior – Daund Superfast Express, caught fire near Talegaon. The incident triggered panic among passengers, prompting some to jump off the train in fear. However, prompt action by railway staff ensured that the situation was quickly brought under control, with no reported casualties.

Passengers shared their harrowing experience on social media, shedding light on the alarming situation. Shekhar Kumar, one of the passengers, posted a photo, informing the public about the incident and describing the panic that ensued among those on board.

In response to the incident, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Pune took to Twitter, assuring the public that further action would be taken. The DRM Pune also provided updates, stating that the train had resumed its journey after successfully containing the fire.

The Gwalior- Daund Superfast Express had come to a halt at TGN station around 4.36 pm, with smoke reported from the rear SLR (NC205707/C) due to brake binding. The efficient and dedicated efforts of the railway staff ensured that the fire was extinguished by 4.55 pm. The brake pressure issue was also addressed and rectified by the Carriage and Wagon (C&W) staff at 6 pm.
