Symbiosis University’s Ishanya Bhavan: A Beacon of Inclusivity for Northeastern Student

In a significant stride towards fostering inclusivity and promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” vision, Symbiosis International University unveiled “Symbiosis Ishanya Bhavan” in Pune. This new addition stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to bridging cultural divides and providing opportunities for students from all corners of India.

The inauguration of Ishanya Bhavan saw Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Education, Government of India, serving as the chief guest, with Chandrakant Patil, Minister for Higher Education and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra, as the guest of honor.

The event commenced on a vibrant note, with a captivating dance performance representing the diverse states of northeastern India. The performance not only showcased the rich cultural tapestry of the region but also set the tone for the inclusive ethos of the institution.

Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, the visionary founder of Symbiosis University, made a heartwarming announcement during the ceremony. He declared, “We have decided to offer one scholarship to a student from the northeastern part of India. The student will not have to spend a single penny on their education here at Symbiosis.” This commitment to easing the educational journey of northeastern students exemplifies the institution’s dedication to creating equal opportunities for all.

The event also featured international students proudly presenting their national flags to Minister Pradhan, underscoring the university’s global diversity and its commitment to providing a multicultural learning environment.

Minister Pradhan, in a candid interaction with the students, lauded Symbiosis University’s recent efforts to promote inclusivity and provide a welcoming space for students from across India.

Dr. Mujumdar, reflecting on the institution’s origins, shared, “I initially founded Symbiosis to create a community for foreign students to experience Indian culture. However, I soon realized that students from northeastern India were feeling uncomfortable. We aim to address this issue with the inauguration of Ishanya Bhavan.”

With Ishanya Bhavan, Symbiosis University has taken a significant step towards fostering unity in diversity, offering a warm and inclusive home to students from the northeastern part of India and beyond.
