JEJURI: A structure of a pandal being put up for the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ programme to be held at Jejuri in the presence of CM Shinde and Deputy CMs Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar on July 13, collapsed. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.

The ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ and the ground breaking ceremony of the Jejuri Temple Development Plan have been organised on Thursday. A huge pandal spread over 1,57,000 sq foot and which will accommodate 21,000 people, is being built. The work of constructing the pandal has been going on since a week. At 3 am, iron pillars had been installed and the structure had been built. After the labourers went to sleep, the entire structure collapsed. However, there was no loss of life.

Since the work is underway continuously, the workers don’t get adequate rest. After the structure of the pandal collapsed, the workers had to again start the work of putting up the structure. The labourers said that after they went to sleep, the structure collapsed after 10 minutes.

The works of setting up distribution system for the beneficiaries, AC hall for dignitaries, stalls of several self help groups, lunch arrangements for the beneficiaries and mobile toilets are underway on a war footing.
