Street Attack: Biker Assaulted, Looted of Rs 7,000 in Keshavnagar; Mundhwa Police Arrested Two In Pune

Pune: A young man who was travelling on his bike was intercepted by four people from a rikshaw, who assaulted him and ran away by forcibly taking seven thousand rupees from his pocket. This incident took place on Thursday, February 29, at around 2.30 p.m. on the public road in Keshavnagar.

In this regard, Mundhwa police arrested two individuals on the basis of a complaint filed by Yuktikumar Sarangpani Nimbalkar, a resident of Shindevasti, Mundhwa. The arrested individuals have been identified as Akshay Annasaheb Shinde (age 25) and Mahendra Eknath Shelar. Both are residents of the Kalepadal area in Hadapsar.

As per the police complaint, the plaintiff was travelling on his bike on a public road in Keshavnagar on Thursday. At that time, the rickshaw bearing the number MH 12 JS 4075 intercepted him, and its driver asked him some random address of a hotel. When the plaintiff was assisting the rikshaw driver with direction, four people got out of the rikshaw and strangled him.

After that, a few people held the plaintiff’s hands and started searching for the money. After a little resistance and retaliation by the plaintiff, the accused assaulted the plaintiff with a stone and absconded from there after taking seven thousand rupees from his pocket.

After registering the case by the victim, Mundhwa police booked the accused under IPC 397, 394, 341, 323, and 34 and started searching for the accused. Meanwhile, in the CCTV footage of the area, police officer Mahesh Pathak got the information that the rickshaw used in the crime was parked in an open field on Kalyani Bungalow Road. Accordingly, the team laid a trap and detained the two accused. After detention, both accused confessed their involvement in the crime.
