Streamlined Process: Pune Citizens Embrace Online Changes in 7/12 Extracts

Pune: In a bid to simplify bureaucratic processes and reduce citizen inconvenience, Pune residents can now apply online for changes in their 7/12 extracts. The initiative, introduced by the state settlement commissioner’s office, aims to streamline the inclusion of heirship details and additional names without the necessity of physical visits to talathi offices.

NK Sudhanshu, the state settlement commissioner (holding additional charge), informed TOI that the online system has successfully enabled citizens to make required changes in their 7/12 extracts with ease. Upon registering on the Mahabhumi website, individuals can access the 7/12 extract link, choosing from a range of services, including applications for corrections, name additions, and heirship details. Each service has been allotted a specific time frame for clearance, ensuring a systematic and efficient process.

Launched last year, the project has garnered over 2 lakh applications, showcasing the positive response from citizens. The application process involves the submission of scanned documents, resulting in the generation of an application ID. Subsequently, the application is forwarded to the Talathi online, where document verification takes place. Upon successful verification, a mutation number is generated, and the citizen is notified online.

Officials emphasize that citizens can track the document’s status using the provided mutation number on the main Mahabhumi website under Bhulekh and the Aapli Chavadi portal. This innovative system enables individuals to make changes in mutation entries across the state without physically visiting talathi offices.

An individual, who registered on the Mahabhumi website, praised the system’s efficiency. Activist Shrikant Joshi commended the online system for its ability to eliminate middlemen, simplifying the process for citizens.

Once registered on the portal for mutation entry changes, citizens receive notifications about the progress, with corrections reflected in the 7/12 extracts within 40 days, as per officials. This user-friendly facility empowers landholders across the state to apply for changes from the comfort of their homes, promising less footfall in talathi offices, enhanced transparency, and improved tracking of application statuses.
