SPPU Takes Stern Measures: Fines Imposed on Teachers for Grading Errors in Exams”

Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has recently cracked down on teachers and colleges responsible for grading and examination mark errors in various subjects, resulting in inaccurate results. The university’s committee has taken decisive action by imposing fines, ranging from Rs 5,000, on teachers who made mistakes while awarding marks in internal and practical exams.

Following the announcement of results for the April-May 2023 session, several discrepancies were reported in the marks of many students. Some teachers had inaccurately assigned grades, while others had made errors while entering marks. In response, the university’s Disciplinary Committee launched an inquiry into the matter and initiated disciplinary actions against the teachers responsible.

SPPU has also assured students that they will rectify the errors in their grades by closely reviewing the work completed by colleges to ensure compliance with the university’s education standards. Additionally, the university has emphasized that strict actions will be taken in the future if similar errors occur, as outlined in their official statement.

After meticulously reviewing the examination records on September 30, the university issued notices to the respective colleges and teachers held accountable for the errors. Furthermore, the number of students affected by these grading errors has been publicly disclosed.
