After a hiatus of six months, the post of registrar at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is set to be filled in the second week of July. Varsity officials have announced that interviews for eligible candidates for the full-time registrar position will be conducted on July 11 and July 12.
Since November 16, 2023, Vijay Khare, the director of the International Centre at SPPU, has been temporarily holding the position of registrar following the conclusion of Prafull Pawar’s term. However, due to restrictions imposed by the poll code, the appointment process was delayed. Among the 36 candidates vying for the position, seven have been deemed ineligible, as per the university’s published list.
According to SPPU Vice-Chancellor Professor Suresh Gosavi, the university will also prepare a list of candidates for the position of director of New Initiatives and New Research Assistant Board in July, indicating a broader restructuring and recruitment effort within the institution.
