SPPU Administration Appeals for Calm After Vandalism, Forms Fact-Finding Commission

Pune: In the aftermath of the vandalism at the Lalit Kala Kendra department, the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) administration issued a statement on Tuesday, calling for peace and non-violence on the university campus. The incident, involving alleged vandalism by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Yuva Morcha Pune, has prompted legal actions by the police administration.

The university, in accordance with the University Act, has taken serious note of the incident and swiftly constituted a fact-finding commission chaired by a former District Judge to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The statement released by the SPPU administration emphasized the commitment to taking all necessary actions in response to the incident. It called upon students, citizens, institutions, organizations, and all segments of society to ensure that there are no disruptions or obstacles to the academic and administrative work of the university.

The university statement read, “Students, citizens, institutions, organizations, and all elements of society should try their best to ensure that there will be no disruption or obstacles in the academic and administrative work of the university while expressing their thoughts, opinions, and feelings and that the educational environment of the university will remain good.”

The fact-finding commission, consisting of experts, is expected to provide a comprehensive understanding of the events that transpired at Lalit Kala Kendra. The university’s appeal for peace comes as a measure to uphold the educational environment and allow for a fair investigation into the incident.
