Pune, August 14, 2023: The Katraj-Kondhwa road has been witnessing a distressing series of accidents, with yet another tragic incident claiming the life of a 70-year-old woman on Sunday. Prabhavati Pandurang Anbhule, the unfortunate victim, lost her life after being hit by a truck near Maulinagar Chowk. The accident occurred as she was attempting to cross the road.
Local authorities reported that the woman sustained severe injuries in the collision. Despite being rushed to the hospital, medical professionals were unable to save her, and she was declared dead. The driver of the truck involved in the accident was apprehended by the police as he attempted to flee the scene. A case has been registered at Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station under the appropriate sections of the law.
It’s worth noting that this is not the first unfortunate incident on Katraj-Kondhwa Road. On August 10, a major accident unfolded, resulting in the loss of one life and injuries to seven others. A truck carrying cement pipes collided with multiple vehicles, including a school bus. The area’s residents have been advocating for road widening for an extended period, but progress has been hampered by land acquisition challenges.
Disturbingly, reports reveal that a total of 58 accidents have transpired on Katraj-Kondhwa Road over the past five years. Tragically, these accidents have claimed the lives of 28 individuals. As the community grapples with the rising number of accidents and their devastating consequences, the need for road safety improvements remains a pressing concern.
