A gruesome incident shook Pune as Vijay Dhume, the son of a retired policeman, was brutally stabbed to death near Hotel Dawat and Quality Lodge on Sinhagad Road, today around 7 PM.
Senior police officers from the Sinhagad Road Police Station and Crime Branch immediately rushed to the scene. An investigation into the heinous crime has been initiated, with CCTV footage from the area currently under review.
Dhume, known for his friendly relations with several senior police officers and a good rapport with political figures, met a tragic and untimely end.
According to preliminary reports, Dhume was ambushed by four to five assailants as he exited Quality Lodge. In a matter of moments, he was left covered in blood, succumbing to his injuries on the spot.
