Shocking Incident in Pune: Bihari Migrant Worker Fatally Shot in Rs 5000 Dispute

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Ghorpade Peth on the 30th of October 2023, Anil Ramdev Sahu, a Bihari migrant worker aged 35, fell victim to a fatal shooting over a dispute involving Rs 5000. The assailant, a criminal with a history of police records, committed this heinous act after Sahu declined to lend the requested sum. The dreadful incident occurred at around 2 am, sending shockwaves through the community.

Thanks to the prompt and efficient response from the Unit One of the Crime Branch of Pune City Police, three suspects involved in the crime have been taken into custody.

The deceased, Anil Ramdev Sahu, hailing from Darbhanga district in Bihar, had been residing in Shrikrishna Heights building near Sinhgad Garage in Ghorpade Peth. It was Sahu’s cousin, Dhuran Kumar Haridev Sahu, aged 24, who filed a formal complaint with Khadak police station, seeking justice for his cousin’s untimely demise.

The individuals arrested in connection with this tragic incident are Rohit Sampat Komkar (23), residing in Shrikrishna Heights building, Ganesh Ulhasrao Shinde (41) from Chavannagar, Dhankawadi, and Aman Deepak Pardeshi (29) from Ghorpade Peth. Another suspect, Navnath Lodha, is currently evading the authorities.

Initial police reports indicate that Lodha possesses a criminal record and has previously faced legal actions under MCOCA. Anil Sahu, who worked as a salesman in a saree shop, had been living on rent in the area for the past three years. Two days prior to the tragic event, Lodha approached Sahu, requesting a sum of five thousand rupees. However, Sahu, citing financial constraints, declined the request, which reportedly ignited Lodha’s anger.

On the fateful Sunday, an argument erupted during Komkar’s birthday celebration beneath the building, involving Sahu, Lodha, Komkar, and Shinde. The altercation further fueled Lodha’s rage, prompting him to visit Sahu’s residence with a firearm and tragically end his life.

Acting on a tip-off received by diligent police personnel Aniket Babar and Ayaz Daddikar, Shinde and Pardeshi were apprehended from their homes, while Komkar was detained in the Swargate area.

The joint efforts, guided by Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ramnath Pokale, DCP (Crime) Amol Zende, and ACP Sunil Tambe, included Senior Police Inspector Shabbir Syed, Assistant Inspector Ashish Kawthekar, and the dedicated police personnel Rahul Makhare, Ajay Thorat, Aniket Babar, Ayaj Daddikar, Datta Sonwane, and Shashikant Darekar.
