Shivjayanti Traffic Alert: Pune Police Announce Major Road Closures for Celebrations

In preparation for the grand celebration of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary, Pune Police have announced significant traffic modifications in the heart of the city. The modifications are scheduled to be in effect on the day of the event, starting at 7 am and lasting until the conclusion of the festivities. Major roads, including Nehru Road, Lakshmi Road, Shivaji Road, and Bajirao Road, will be temporarily closed to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Shivjayanti celebrations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Shashikant Borate has urged motorists to plan their routes accordingly and consider utilizing alternative roads during the specified period. Essential service vehicles will be exempted from the road closures.

Alternative Routes:

  1. Shivaji Road is recommended for those traveling from Jijamata Chowk to Swargate.
  2. Barve Chowk to Jangli Maharaj Road, Khandujibaba Chowk to Tilak Chowk, and Tilak Chowk to Tilak Road offer convenient alternative routes.
  3. Traffic heading towards Budhwar Chowk will be redirected through Jogeshwari Mandir Chowk from Kelkar Road.
  4. Lakshmi Road traffic will be redirected away from Kabir Chowk until it reaches Sonya Maruti Chowk.
  5. Drivers traveling from Puram Chowk to Shivajinagar via Bajirao Road can opt for Tilak Road to reach Fergusson College Road through Tilak Chowk.

These modifications will ensure the seamless flow of activities and prioritize the safety of the public during the Shivjayanti festivities in Pune. Motorists are advised to adhere to the designated routes and cooperate with the traffic arrangements for a smooth and enjoyable celebration.
