Hanging

PUNE: A man married again a year after his wife’s death but since he was mentally harassed for transferring the ownership of his house, he died by suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Vilas Genba Lagad (62), a resident of Laxmi Colony, Hadapsar. It came to light later that he had recorded a video of hanging himself.

The son of the deceased, Sagar Vilas Lagad (62) has lodged a complaint (1199/23) at the Hadapsar police station. Accordingly, the police have registered an FIR against Sujata Gurav (50). The incident took place at King Lodge on Monday afternoon.

According to the police, Vilas Lagad’s first wife Lalita died two years ago. Last year, suddenly, Vilas Lagad married Sujata Gurav and gave her a flat on the upper floor to stay. After the marriage, Sujata started pestering Vilas Lagde to transfer the house in her name. Vilas Lagad, who was fed up with harassment, had gone away in May 2023. The police located and brought him back. He was staying alone at a separate place.

There had been an argument between Vilas Lagde and his wife over the transfer of the house. Vilas Lagad took the extreme step at the King Lodge. He had written a note in his mobile that he was dying by suicide because of harassment by Sujata Gurav and she was responsible for his death. He had also recorded a video saying that he was committing suicide.
