Security Operation: Pune Police’s Vigilance Against Criminals Before Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad

With the festive season of Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad on the horizon, the Pune Police launched a midnight operation targeting known criminals in the city. In an effort to maintain law and order during these celebrations, the police undertook preventive measures against individuals with a history of criminal activities in various parts of Pune.

This operation, termed a “combing operation,” saw participation from the Crime Branch and teams from multiple police stations. Out of the 2,544 individuals with criminal records, 717 were identified as residing at their registered addresses.

The police made several significant arrests during the operation. In Zone One, they apprehended an individual carrying a knife. Zone Two witnessed the arrest of two fugitives involved in serious crimes, both of whom were found in possession of illegal weapons.

Additionally, Akshay Suresh Shinde (22) from Mayuri Colony, Handewadi Road, was arrested by the anti-narcotics squad for alleged involvement in the sale of ganja. Unit Three of the Crime Branch arrested Aditya Yuvraj Bhalerao (19), Hrithik Dilip Kamble (23), Gaurav Vaman Chavan (23), and Ajay Raju Das (19) from Mahatma Phule Vasahat, Sinhagad Road, Parvati area.

The police conducted inspections at the railway station, ST bus stand premises, lodges, and hotels within the city. The traffic police also took action against 257 motorists as part of the operation.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance and supervision of Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Joint Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokle, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Praveen Kumar Patil, and various DCPs, including Amol Zende, Sandeep Singh Gill, Smartana Patil, Suhail Sharma, Shashikant Borate, Vikrant Deshmukh, and Vijay Kumar Magar.
