‘Sankalp Nashamukti’: Lonavala Police Takes Action Against ‘Ganja’ Consumption

Lonavala, 23rd August 2023: In a determined effort to combat the alarming issue of drug abuse, Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Ankit Goyal and Assistant Superintendent of Police (Lonavla sub-division) Satyasai Karthik have launched the ‘Sankalp Nashamukti’ campaign.

As a part of this initiative, the Lonavla City Police Station has apprehended eight individuals for the consumption of the intoxicating substance ‘Ganja’. Swift and decisive action was taken, as the suspects were promptly investigated and presented before the court along with appropriate charge sheets. The court, in response, imposed fines of Rs 1000 on each accused, with a provision of a seven-day jail term for non-payment.

Authorities are emphasizing the crucial role that reporting any instances of drug-related activity plays in curbing this issue. They encourage citizens to promptly inform the Lonavala City Police Station about any such occurrences. Furthermore, individuals are urged to distance themselves from all forms of drugs, thereby safeguarding their own well-being and that of their families.

The operation was conducted by a dedicated team under the leadership of Police Inspector Sitaram Dubal from the Lonavla City Police Station. The team was supported by committed police personnel including Jayaraj Patankar, Hanumant Shinde, Gaikwad, and Sudhir Dumbare, among others.
