RTO Pune Unveils Revised Fares for AC Cabs and Cool Cabs in Pune

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune has announced revised fare structures for Cool cabs and air-conditioned taxis operating in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and Baramati. The decision, reached during a joint meeting on December 22, 2023, was presided over by Pune District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh.

The fare revision aligns with the black-yellow taxi fare fixing formula, approved by the government through a decision dated March 9, 2020, and the recommendations of the Khatua Committee.

In a meeting dated April 17, 2023, the Regional Transport Authority Pune established the fare rates for black-yellow taxis at Rs 31 for the first 1.5 km and Rs 21 for every additional 1 km.

Following the Khatua Committee’s suggestion, a 20 percent fare hike has been proposed for Cool Cabs and Air-Conditioned Taxis. As a result, the updated fares for these categories are as follows:

Black-Yellow Taxi:

  • For the first 1.5 km: Rs 31
  • For every 1 km after the first 1.5 km: Rs 21

Cool Cabs (Air-Conditioned Taxis):

  • For the first 1.5 km: Rs 37
  • For every 1 km after the first 1.5 km: Rs 25

The RTO Pune has scheduled the implementation of these revised fares from January 1, 2024, marking a notable change in the transportation landscape of the specified regions. Commuters are advised to familiarize themselves with the adjustments and plan their journeys accordingly.
