Pune Crime News

Pune: In a concerning trend, instances of mobile phone thefts are on the rise at popular transportation points in Pune, including bus terminals and the railway station. The surge in such incidents has now extended to the Pune railway station, where commuters are falling victim to swift thefts amid the chaotic rush.

A recent case was reported by a 33-year-old businessman from Pimpri, who filed a complaint (G. Reg. No. 853/23) at Pune Lohmarg Police Station. The victim was at Platform No. 4 of Pune Railway Station, intending to board the Nizamuddin Express. In the early morning hours around 4:30 a.m., as he was boarding the train, thieves skilfully stole his iPhone valued at Rs 1 lakh 35 thousand from his pant pocket.

Notably, this is not an isolated incident. On December 26 at 8:00 a.m., a 19-year-old girl fell prey to a similar theft while boarding the Pragati Express. The thief swiftly removed a mobile phone from her pocket, highlighting the audacity of these criminals.

Another incident unfolded on December 24, involving a 27-year-old architect from Virar. As he boarded the Hujur Sahiba Express on platform 6 of Pune railway station, a thief snatched his mobile phone from his pocket, leaving him a victim of this growing menace.
