Reviving Healthcare: Kamala Nehru Hospital in Pune to Reopen Dialysis Centre in March

Pune: In a significant move aimed at improving healthcare services, Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Kamala Nehru Hospital is poised to reintroduce a dialysis centre, with services slated to commence in the upcoming month. The PMC health department shared this update, highlighting the initiative’s goal to reduce inconvenience for patients in need of dialysis.

The dialysis centre at Kamala Nehru Hospital was previously operated by a private organization. However, irregularities in the day-to-day operations prompted the termination of the arrangement, leading to the discontinuation of dialysis services. In response, the PMC initiated a tender process, receiving interest from seven companies. THS, offering the lowest rate, has been chosen by the PMC to collaborate on reinstating the dialysis centre.

The dialysis unit, spanning 2 thousand square feet within Kamla Nehru Hospital, will be complemented by an attached intensive care unit. The collaboration will span a 10-year tenure, with the provision for two additional extensions of 10 years each. While the PMC has waived the rent for the space, the collaborating organization is responsible for establishing all necessary systems, including staffing and machinery.

This move reflects the PMC’s commitment to addressing healthcare needs in Pune, ensuring that vital services are readily accessible to the community. The reopening of the dialysis centre aligns with the broader goal of enhancing patient care and convenience within the city.
