Resolution Reached: Pune Cab Association and Companies Forge Agreement in Crucial Talks

In a significant development for the transportation sector, the Pune Cab Association, comprising cab companies affiliated with the Indian Gig Workers’ Front (IGWF) and local cab drivers, convened a crucial meeting on February 21, 2024. The meeting, held at 7 pm in the collector’s office, was chaired by Pune District Collector Suhas Diwase.

During the session, Dr. Keshav Kshirsagar, President of the Indian Gig Workers’ Front, shared insights into the discussions. The District Collector directed the cab companies to convene a meeting under the Regional Transport Officer, Pune’s chairmanship before February 28, emphasizing the need for a practical and viable solution to the challenges faced by the industry. In the absence of a unanimous decision among the cab companies, a follow-up meeting is scheduled on February 28, under the supervision of the Pune District Collector.

Dr. Kshirsagar elaborated on the upcoming schedule, stating, “We will have meetings with the cab companies on February 24 and 26, 2024, in the office of the Regional Transport Officer, Pune. Subsequently, on February 28, 2024, we will reconvene under the chairmanship of the District Collector.”

Expressing organizational restraint until February 28, Kshirsagar asserted that if the demands are not met or concrete solutions are not presented by then, a severe protest will be initiated. The cab association is hopeful that these discussions will pave the way for sustainable resolutions and improvements within the industry, benefitting both drivers and companies.
