Republican Party of India Protests Poor Road Conditions in Keshav Nagar with Unique Demonstrations

Residents of Keshav Nagar, Pune, took to the streets in a unique demonstration organized by the Republican Party of India (RPI) to draw attention to the deplorable condition of roads in the area. The protest, characterized by individuals lying down on the road in scorching heat, aimed to shed light on the substandard road quality plaguing the locality.

Gajendra More, Youth District President of RPI Pune, expressed deep concerns over the deteriorating state of roads in Keshav Nagar, particularly areas like Buddha Vihar. He highlighted the presence of persistent potholes and inadequate concreting, citing discrepancies in the execution of road construction projects.

In an interview with Pune Pulse, More criticized the lack of accountability from municipal authorities, emphasizing the need for immediate action to address the pressing road infrastructure issues. Despite inquiries made to the concerned engineers, satisfactory explanations regarding the poor quality of roadwork have been elusive, fueling frustration among citizens.

The protest, held opposite Buddha Vihar in Keshav Nagar, served as a symbolic gesture of dissent. More warned of escalated protests, including larger demonstrations and road blockades, if the road conditions remained unaddressed even after the conclusion of the model code of conduct.

A letter addressed to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) from the Republican Party of India outlined specific grievances regarding road construction in Keshav Nagar. The letter raised concerns about the inferior quality of work carried out by contractors, suspected collusion between contractors and engineers, and the mismanagement of public funds allocated for road infrastructure projects.

The call for a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities underscores the urgency of addressing systemic issues plaguing road development initiatives. As citizens continue to demand accountability and transparency, the onus lies on municipal authorities to prioritize effective governance and ensure the judicious utilization of public resources for the betterment of communities.
