Renowned Pune Ophthalmologist Dr. Vardhaman Kankaria Elected to All India Ophthalmology Association’s Scientific Committee

Pune, 1st August 2023: The ophthalmology community in India celebrates the election of Dr. Vardhaman Kankaria, a distinguished Ophthalmologist and Director of Asian Eye Hospital in Pune, to the Scientific Committee of the prestigious All India Ophthalmology Association.

The announcement was made during the annual national conference of the association, held recently in Cochin, Kerala. Dr. Kankaria’s election to this esteemed committee is a testament to his expertise and contributions to the field of ophthalmology, and it is considered a significant recognition within the medical community.

At a young age, Dr. Vardhaman Kankaria has achieved remarkable milestones in his career. He is among the youngest ophthalmologists to be elected to the All India Ophthalmology Association’s Scientific Committee, which comprises seven members from across the country, representing a total of 27,000 ophthalmologists in the organization. Dr. Kankaria’s dedication and commitment to his profession have also been acknowledged during his tenure as the secretary of the Maharashtra Ophthalmology Association, a prestigious position representing over 3,000 ophthalmologists in Maharashtra.

Dr. Kankaria’s contributions to Ophthalmology have garnered international acclaim, with his extensive research at both national and international levels. Notably, he holds a distinguished place in the Limca Book of World Records for his exceptional performance in LASIK surgery for the removal of glasses, showcasing his expertise and groundbreaking achievements in the field.

The All India Ophthalmology Association’s Scientific Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping advancements and innovations in ophthalmology. Dr. Kankaria’s election to this committee further highlights his standing as an accomplished ophthalmologist of international repute and underscores his potential to contribute significantly to the development of the field.

During the convention, several other ophthalmologists from Maharashtra, including Dr. Bawankule, Dr. Hirur, and Dr. Bansal, were also selected for various committees within the All India Ophthalmology Association. This recognition of their expertise further strengthens the representation of Maharashtra in the association and showcases the state’s contributions to the field of ophthalmology.
