Rapid Progress: Pune Metro’s Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Line Advances Pier Erection Phase

The Puneri Metro project, a transformative endeavor aimed at connecting the thriving IT hub of Hinjewadi with the bustling central business district of Shivajinagar, is making remarkable progress. The phase of pier erection on this route has reached its concluding stages, representing a significant milestone in the project’s timeline. Of the planned 923 pillars for this expansive 23.3 km stretch, a substantial 80%, totaling 715 piers, have been successfully erected.

The inauguration of the 715th pier, a testament to engineering excellence, took place today near Agriculture College Square on Ganeshkhind Road. It is noteworthy that since the casting of the inaugural pier on Ganeshkhind Road in April 2022, the Pune Metro Line 3 development team has achieved the extraordinary feat of erecting over 700 piers in just 17 months.

Simultaneously, the pile cap work for Pune Metro Line 3 has also entered its final phase, with 810 out of 923 pile caps now completed. Alok Kapoor, the Chief Executive Officer of Pune Metro Line 3, highlighted the unique circular design of these piers, featuring a diameter of 2000 mm, meticulously crafted to meet the stringent standards of the metro rail system while steadfastly adhering to construction safety guidelines as outlined in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) manual.

Upon its completion, the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar metro line will provide a seamless, cost-effective, and convenient public transportation solution, significantly improving the daily commutes of the city’s residents. The Tata Group’s unwavering commitment to quality and safety is evident in every phase of this project, underscoring its dedication to community service.
