Pune’s River Conservation Takes Center Stage: Aditya Thackeray Advocates Sustainable Policies for Mula and Mutha

A seminar dedicated to the conservation of the Mula and Mutha river basin in Pune brought together environmentalists, political leaders, and concerned citizens, shedding light on the critical issues plaguing these vital water bodies. The event witnessed the active participation of notable figures, including Shiv Sena Thackeray group leader MLA Aditya Thackeray, who not only attended but addressed the pressing concerns related to the rivers.

Post the seminar, Aditya Thackeray engaged with the media, underscoring the need for unified efforts to protect the Mula and Mutha rivers, emphasizing their significance in sustaining the city’s ecological balance.

He expressed concern over the drastic changes in the conditions of the Mula and Mutha rivers, particularly their narrowing riverbeds due to encroachments on both sides. Thackeray stressed the urgency of maintaining the rivers’ original course and called for collective action involving environmental enthusiasts, citizens, and political parties to address this critical issue.

In his address, Thackeray criticized the current approach of the ruling party towards the riverbed, deeming it incorrect. He urged for a comprehensive presentation on ongoing activities and advocated for an immediate halt to these works. Thackeray emphasized the necessity of collective introspection, urging stakeholders to consider whether the city is prioritizing the development of contractors and consultants from Gujarat over the welfare of Pune’s citizens.

The seminar served as a platform to raise awareness about the environmental challenges faced by the Mula and Mutha rivers and called for proactive measures to ensure their conservation.
