Pune’s PMPML Revolutionizes Pass Purchases with Cashless QR Code Payments

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is making travel more convenient for passengers by introducing a cashless payment option at its pass centers. This new initiative, set to launch on October 23, 2023, enhances the passenger experience and embraces modern digital advancements. Here’s what you need to know:

Seamless and Hassle-Free Payments

Passengers can now use a QR code for quick, cashless transactions when purchasing passes. This innovative payment option is designed to make the process smoother and more efficient. Importantly, it won’t affect the traditional pass sale facility, allowing passengers to choose the method that suits them best.

The Inauguration Event

The formal inauguration of this groundbreaking service took place with the presence of Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar and Sachchindra Pratap Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML. This event signifies a significant step towards enhancing the passenger experience and promoting digital payment solutions in the public transport sector.

Success with Cashless Payments on Buses

PMPML had already introduced cashless payment options on all its buses, starting from October 1, 2023, through e-ticket machines. This initiative was well-received by the traveling public, resulting in impressive revenue generation. From October 1 to October 20, 2023, the Corporation generated Rs. 19,49,400 in revenue, with 73,728 e-tickets sold and 89,368 passengers opting for cashless transactions using QR codes.

Convenience for Pass Sales

PMPML offers various pass types at all its Pass Centers and typically generates an average monthly income of Rs. 5 crore from pass sales. On average, around 60,000 passes are sold monthly. Building on this success, the Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, Sachchindra Pratap Singh, has initiated the introduction of cashless pass payments through QR codes.

Available at 40 Pass Centers

Starting from Monday, October 23, 2023, passengers can conveniently pay for passes through QR codes at all 40 pass centers operated by the transport body. This endeavor aligns with PMPML’s goal to modernize and digitize passenger services.

PMPML encourages all citizens to take advantage of the cashless facility for pass purchases, streamlining the process and contributing to a more efficient and convenient commuting experience.
