Pune’s Pimpri Chinchwad Residents Await Piped Cooking Gas Amidst Communication Woes

In the Chinchwad and Dange Chowk areas of Pune, the anticipation for piped cooking gas from Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has turned into a frustrating wait, marred by customer service challenges and unmet promises.

Numerous residents in these localities have encountered difficulties when trying to communicate with MNGL and have expressed their dissatisfaction with the customer service experience. Issues related to civic matters concerning MNGL gas connections have only exacerbated these concerns.

Amol Bhanage, Chairman of Tanishq Icon Society in Dange Chowk, shed light on the ongoing struggle his society faces in securing an MNGL connection. Despite submitting the requisite documents, including a list of society members and a No Objection Certificate (NOC), the process has been significantly delayed. Multiple follow-ups with the MNGL officer in Wakad have yielded no results, and attempts to reach MNGL have gone unanswered. They were assured by MNGL that pipeline work would commence before Ganesh Chaturthi, but those promises remain unfulfilled.

MNGL authorities have cited the need for road digging to lay the pipeline, which, due to the rainy season, awaits permission from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to proceed.

Saket Bhagat, Secretary of the Oriental Marble Society in Chinchwad, added to the chorus of complaints, sharing their two-year-long struggle for an MNGL connection. Despite numerous complaints on Twitter and relentless follow-ups, their connection remains incomplete. Communication with MNGL and state government authorities has yielded no results.

MNGL claims that permission from the adjacent Goyal Garima Society was granted for pipeline work near Oriental Society, but Oriental’s consent was provided only six months ago. The pending work includes member registration, meter fitting, and other minor tasks. MNGL has now assured that the registration process will commence in the coming week.

Frustrations are palpable, and residents emphasize the need for efficient communication and timely issue resolution, especially when it pertains to essential services like gas connections. The challenges in communication with MNGL underscore the importance of effective communication channels and swift resolutions for residents eagerly awaiting their piped cooking gas.
