In a proactive move, Pune’s newly appointed Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, has addressed critical issues affecting the city and unveiled a comprehensive plan to tackle various challenges.

Commissioner Kumar emphasized the strict adherence of bars and pubs to the 1:30 am deadline, with legal repercussions for those violating permissible music limits. The focus on maintaining order in entertainment establishments aims to create a more peaceful and disciplined nightlife.

Recognizing the pervasive issue of traffic congestion, Commissioner Kumar outlined plans for both immediate relief measures and long-term infrastructure changes. The current study of traffic conditions in Wagholi is just the beginning, with evaluations and considerations also underway for several other key Chowks in Pune.

Addressing the surge in cybercrime cases, the Commissioner highlighted the need for tech-savvy individuals in the police force. Plans to purchase advanced software are in place to enhance the police department’s capabilities in preventing and detecting cybercrimes.

To combat organized crime, the Crime Branch units have been tasked with monitoring notorious individuals, with a specific focus on offenses against the human body. Recent actions against card club owners indicate a crackdown on illegal activities.

Acknowledging the foundation role of constables in the police force, Commissioner Kumar announced the transfer of constables who have served for five years at a single station, emphasizing the importance of their role.

Concerns about possible covert assistance to unlawful activities prompted a stern warning from Commissioner Kumar, pledging serious consequences for those found involved. Land dispute manipulations with police assistance will not be tolerated, as seen in recent charges against both parties involved in a dispute.

The Damini Squad is set to address solicitation issues near bus stops, providing assurance to women traveling late at night. Commissioner Kumar underscored accountability for police officers if a person with a criminal history commits a crime.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar reassured the public of his commitment to resolving these issues effectively and creating a safer and more secure atmosphere for Pune citizens.
