Pune’s Ganesh festival became famous all over the world due to Bhausaheb Rangari and Lokmanya Tilak, says MLA Ravindra Dhangekar

PUNE: MLA Ravindra Dhangekar said, “The first public Ganesh festival in India was started by Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari. Lokmanya Tilak spread the importance of celebration of Ganesh festival and it became popular all over the world.”

The pooja of Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Trust took place on Monday. Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Trust’s Festival Head and Trustee Punit Balan, MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil, DCP Sandeep Singh Gill, President of Guruji Talim Mandal Pravin Pardeshi etc were present.

After this pooja is performed, the work of setting up the pandal begins. All these dignitaries took part in the pooja and prayed to Lord Ganesh. Dhangekar said that the police administration and Ganesh devotes will work together to make this festival a huge success.

Joint CP Karnik said, “We get cooperation of everyone for the Ganesh festival. The police department is also making preparations. This year, the festival will be celebrated with lot of enthusiasm. The police administration will work for 24 hours for the security of Ganesh devotees. It is our desire that the festival should be celebrated in a joyous manner.”

Punit Balan said that the Ganesh festival will be celebrated in the traditional manner and gave information about various programmes to be held during the festival.
