Pune’s Five Manache Ganpati Mandals’ immersion processions end

Pune: The immersion processions of Ganpati idols of the five Manache Ganpati Mandals in the city was completed on Thursday. Thousands of devotees from Pune and from across the world bid farewell to their beloved deities.

The immersion procession started from the Lokmanya Tilak statue at Mandai. District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil and State Legislative Council Vice-Chairperson Neelam Gorhe performed ‘Aarti’ and the procession started. Chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Moraya…Mangalmurti Moraya…pundhchya varshi lavkar yaa’ reverberated the atmosphere.

1) Manacha Pahila Kasba Ganpati

The Manacha Pahila Kasba Ganpati’s ‘Aarti’ was performed at 10.15 am. Then it moved towards Alka Talkies Chowk via Belbaug Chowk. Prabhat Band, the Dhol-Tasha troupes of Kamayani Prashala, Ramanbaug Prashala, Rudragarjana participated in the procession. The idol was immersed at 4.10 pm in a tank on the bank of Mutha river.

2) Manacha Dusra Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati

The Manacha Dusra Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati immersion procession started at 11 am. The Ganpati Mandal’s procession was taken out in the traditional palanquin via Tilak Chowk and Belbaug Chowk towards Alka Talkies Chowk. New Gandharva Brass Band, Shivmudra Dhol-Tasha Pathak took part in the procession. The procession got over at 4.43 pm.

3) Manacha Tisra Guruji Talim Ganpati

The Manacha Tisra Guruji Talim Ganpati immersion procession began at the noon. Gulal was tossed liberally as an annual practice. The ‘Punyacha Raja’ rode on the ‘Ramrajya’ Chariot decorated with flowers. The procession completed at 5.40 pm at the Panchaleshwar Ghat.

4) Manacha Chautha Tulshibaug Ganpati

The Manacha Chautha Tulshibaug Ganpati Mandal immersion procession started in the ‘Mahakal’ Chariot at 1 pm. The Tulshibaug Dhol-Tasha Pathak presented ‘Shiv Tandav’ scene. Mandal workers dressed as ‘Shiva’ with matted hair arrived at Belbaug Chowk. The procession ended at 6.32 pm. The idol was immersed in the civic body’s immersion tank in the Deccan Gymkhana area.

5 Manacha Pachva Kesriwada Ganpati

The Manacha Pachva Kesriwada Ganpati immersion procession started at 11 pm. Firecrackers were burst. Crowds of devotees could be seen along the procession route. The procession ended at 6.59 pm after eight hours.
