Puneites Urged to Exercise Their Democratic Right: Students Spearhead Voting Awareness Drive

As the nation celebrates the essence of democracy, the city of Pune gears up for voting day on Tuesday, May 13. With the aim of maximizing voter turnout, the State Election Commission has launched a comprehensive voting awareness campaign across the state, with a particular focus on educational initiatives.

Student-Led Awareness Initiatives

In line with this endeavor, students from Suryadatta Law College took the initiative to raise awareness through street plays, a powerful medium to engage and educate the community.

Theatrical Outreach

Students staged street plays at prominent locations such as Balgandharva Chowk and Sambhaji Garden on JM Road, Pune, urging fellow Punekars to exercise their right to vote. Accompanied by impactful posters conveying the importance of voting, the performances resonated with slogans like ‘Let’s vote and make the country progress’, ‘Pride of voting, pride of democracy’, and ‘Vote Kar Punekar’.

Guidance and Leadership

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President of Suryadatta Education Foundation, and Sushma Chordiya, Vice President, along with the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mithilesh Vishwakarma, Principal of Suryadatta Law College, and Monika Saharawat, Assistant Professor, the students orchestrated this impactful campaign. Renowned writer and actor Rajendra Palwe lent his expertise, directing the street play, which involved the participation of approximately 30-35 students.

Empowering Democracy

Commending the students and staff for their proactive involvement in the awareness campaign, Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya emphasized the significance of voting in strengthening Indian democracy. He underscored the responsibility of every citizen to cast their vote judiciously, ensuring the election of worthy representatives to Parliament. Prof. Dr. Chordiya reiterated Suryadatta’s commitment to holistic education and social responsibility, applauding the institution’s proactive stance in fostering awareness and community engagement.
