Pune: A youth died after a branch of a tree fell on him near the Omkareshwar temple on Sunday. It has been raining across the State for the past two-three days.
The victim has been identified as Abhijit Gund (32), a resident of Kasba Peth. According to the police, the incident took place near the Omkareshwar temple on Sunday evening. Abhijit was having tea at a stall with his friend when a tree branch suddenly fell on him. He received a serious injury to his head. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Vishrambaug Police rushed to the spot after learning about the incident. They are investigating the case. Meanwhile, the victim’s friend alleged that officials from the Vishrambaug Ward Office and the Garden Department were responsible for his death and they should be booked.
