PUNE: A worker was brutally assaulted and killed over a dispute about salary in Model Colony. An FIR has been registered against his employer, an office-bearer of a political party and 12 others.
The deceased has been identified as Avinash Bhide (36), a resident of Dhayari. Bhide’s wife Rekha (30) has lodged a complaint at the Chatuhshrungi police station. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against Shekhar Mahadev Joglekar (58), Pranav Shekhar Joglekar (22), Dayanand Sidram Irkal, a resident of Pandav Nagar, Balu Pandurang Misal, a resident of Karve Nagar, Pramod Shrirang Shinde, a resident of Shivne, Rupesh Ravindra Kadam, Santosh alias Bunty Dattatray Harpude, Prakash Nadkarni and Nakul Shendkar. The accused, Dayanand Irkal is an office-bearer of NCP.
According to the police, Avinash Bhide was working as machine operator with Joglekar. Joglekar and Bhide had a dispute over salary. On August 31, 2022, Joglekar asked Bhide to come to the office early. Bhide went to the office early. Later, Bhide felt giddy in the office. It was said that Bhide had a fall in the office and had been admitted to a private hospital. When Bhide’s wife Rekha went to the hospital, Joglekar was there. Bhide died while undergoing treatment. The accused Irkal, Misal, Shinde, Kadam, Harpude, Nadkarni, Shendkar brutally assaulted Bhide as per Joglekar’s instructions. Bhide died while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Initially, a case of accidental death had been registered. The post-mortem report said that Bhide had died after receiving serious injuries on his head. Later, the police registered an FIR after carrying out a probe. PI Jankar of Crime Branch is probing the case.
