Pune: Work of doubling of railway line between Nira and Lonand completed

PUNE: The doubling work of the Pune-Miraj railway line is going on at full speed. The doubling of the line between Nira and Lonand has been completed. A trial of a train travelling at a speed of 117 km per hour was conducted successfully. Hence, the speed of the rains on this route is going to increase. Railway Safety Commissioner Manoj Arora examined the doubling work of the line between Nira and Lonand.

The distance between them is 7.64 km. After examination, he gave the approval to operate trains on this route. Hence, trains will operate on both the tracks on the Nira-Lonand route. This will help trains to operate at a higher speed. Arora was accompanied by Chief Administrative Officer Vivek Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager Indu Dube and other officials.

The length of Pune-Miraj railway route is 279.05 km. On this route, doubling work of the 174.68 km stretch has been completed. The stretches where the work has been completed include Pune to Shindvane, Amble to Rajewadi, Daundaj to Walha, Shenoli to Bhavani Nagar, Bhavani Nagar to Takari, Takari to Kirloskarwadi, Satara to Koregaon, Palshi to Jarandeshwar, Nandre to Bhilwadi, Nandre to Sangli. The doubling work is going on at full speed in other stretches.
