Pune: A person was arrested for raping a 32-year-old woman, who was returning home from a party, by offering to drop her at home.
The arrested accused has been identified as Dattatraya Kharat (28), a resident of Viman Nagar. The woman lodged a complaint at the Vimantal Police Station in this regard.
According to the police, Backyard Café is located in Viman Nagar. The victim, her girlfriend and two boyfriends visited the place for a party on Thursday night. They were issued a bill of Rs 10,000. The woman tried to pay through her debit card but could not pay as she entered a wrong pin. This led to a dispute and the restaurant manager and workers abused her and snatched her two mobile phones, PAN card, aadhar card and debit card. They promised to return her valuables after the payment of the bill.
Then she waited at the restaurant for a while. Another customer in the restaurant pretended to help her and promised to drop her at her home. But he took her to a lodge in Kharadi, where he raped her. The police started an investigation after she lodged a complaint. Kharat was immediately arrested. The case is being probed under the guidance of Senior PI Vilas Sonde.
