Pune: Woman and Two Men Posing as Cyber Police Scam Man They Met Through Facebook

Pune, 18th August 2023: A 46-year-old individual from Pimpri Chinchwad has filed a complaint with the Pune City Police, alleging that a woman and two men have defrauded him of Rs 53,500. The victim had come into contact with the accused woman through Facebook.

As per the complaint lodged with the police, the accused initially contacted the victim via Facebook and arranged to meet him at a hotel in Warje. However, upon arriving at the hotel, two men confronted him and accused him of being involved in luring women and secretly recording their videos.

Posing as cyber police officers, the accused threatened the victim with legal action. Subsequently, under the pretense of resolving the issue, they escorted him to an ATM machine and coerced him into withdrawing cash.

A case related to this incident has been registered at the Warje Malwadi police station under sections 392, 420, 506, 170, 384, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
