Pune, 6th July 2023: The Pune Rural Police have taken significant action by booking a well owner and contractor under charges of culpable homicide for their alleged involvement in the tragic incident of a well collapse that claimed the lives of four laborers in Indapur. The incident unfolded as an under-construction wall of a well collapsed, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of the workers. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) conducted a painstaking rescue operation spanning over three days to recover the bodies.

The police have identified the well owner as Girish Vijay Kshirsagar and the contractor as Vishwas Gaikwad. In light of the grave nature of the incident, the owner has been arrested, and both parties have been booked under charges of culpable homicide. The authorities allege that despite being aware of the potential dangers to the lives of workers, both the owner and contractor failed to implement necessary safety measures during the construction process.

The incident occurred in Mhasobachi Wadi village in Indapur, where an under-construction wall of a well collapsed last Tuesday. Tragically, four laborers working at the site became trapped under the debris. To aid in the rescue efforts, the NDRF was summoned to the scene.
