PIMPRI: Union Social Justice Minister and President of RPI (Athawale group) Ramdas Athawale said that before the Lok Sabha election, there is a possibility that civic elections may be held in December-January and they are going to demand eight seats.

He added that the party is going to demand two seats in LS election and the civic election is being delayed as a case is going on in the court. The RPI is conducting meetings to increase the reach of the party. A meeting to review the party’s strength in Pimpri Chinchwad was held at Akurdi on Saturday (August 12).

Athawale held a press conference before the meeting. The Chief of the women’s cell Chandrakanta Sonkamble and Parshuram Wadekar were present. “RPI has MLAs in Nagaland and we have received recognition as a regional party there. We want to get recognition in the state and it needs to be strengthened. I am interested in contesting the LS election and I am going to demand two seats. Our party wants to contest the LS election from Shirdi in Ahmednagar district. The seat should be given to RPI. Our party is strong in Mumbai and Vidarbha,” Athawale said.

“We are going to hold discussions with BJP President JP Nadda, Deputy CM Fadnavis, CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. The alliance will get 40 seats in LS election. The government was ready to discuss the situation in Manipur but due to the chaos created by the opposition, no discussion could be held,” Athawale added.
