Pune: In the successful operation against the targeted burglars within the police station limits, the Lashkar police were able to apprehend an inter-state criminal gang yesterday. The police hemmed in the accused on Wednesday at around 9.30 p.m. from the open space in front of Bishop’s School in the Pune Camp area.
Yesterday night, the Lashkar police were conducting their regular patrolling in the area. At that time, the police team got information regarding a possible theft attempt in the area by a few individuals who were standing in the open ground in front of the Bishop’s school and were preparing to commit robbery in the area.
Accordingly, the police promptly sent one of their teams to the location. Upon reaching them, the police carefully kept a watch on the accused’s activities and ultimately detained them in their attempt at a planned robbery in a jewellery shop in the area.
In this action, police successfully apprehended three individuals; however, two people managed to escape the police arrest. The arrested individuals are identified as Arman Kamal Gwala, Sumit Kumar alias Rahulkumar Ramsingh Yadav, and Sonukumar Ramnath Yadav. Of the apprehended accused, two are from Bihar, and one is from West Bengal. The police are actively looking for their other accomplices.
During the investigation, the accused confessed their objective of broking into the commercial shops in the area. Police seized materials such as iron cutters, screwdrivers, tongs, and monkey caps used for robbery from the accused and put them behind bars.
Based on the complaint filed by police sub-inspector Mahendra Kamble, a case has been registered against all the accused under IPC 399, and further investigation is being done by police sub-inspector Gaikwad of Lashkar Police Station.
