Pune: Vasumati Sevabhavi Sanstha honours NCP Vice-President Datta Sagare

Pune: Vasumati Sevabhavi Sanstha, on completion of three years of its service to the needy, honoured Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Vice-President Datta Sagare for his contribution to society. Padma Shri Dr Sharad Moreshwar Hardikar felicitated Sagare by presenting him with a shawl and a coconut as a symbol of auspiciousness. Sanstha Founder Vijay Adhav, Shivajirao Mankar and Jyoti Vijay Adhav were present.

The Sanstha, in its citation, stated: ‘Datta Sagare has played an important role in installing the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in San Jose in the USA. He has donated blood for over 108 times to help the needy. He fed 700 Devdasis with a meal daily for three months during the pandemic. As a politician, he has served as the Opposition Leader in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and was also an independent corporator. Sagare helped the blood bank at the Sassoon General Hospital to collect over 1.80 lakh bottles of blood and helped the poor patients’.

‘In a selfless and daring act, once he saved two children in a fire that broke out during the Ganesh Festival at Tulshibaug. He received 30 per cent burns in the incident. By honouring Datta Sagare, Vasumati Sevabhavi Sanstha feels energised’, stated the citation.

Replying to his felicitation, Datta Sagare said, “I feel fortunate to have been working for all sections of society. I pray to God to give me strength to continue to work for society and for every needy person in it. I will always be grateful for the felicitation by Vasumati Sevabhavi Sanstha.”
