Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) is gearing up for the Avishkar 2024 science convention, where a dedicated squad of 48 students from the university and its affiliated colleges will showcase their projects. The event, scheduled from January 12th to 14th in Nashik, is part of the government of Maharashtra’s initiative to promote scientific exploration and innovation in higher education.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, Prof. Dr. Parag Kalkar, and Registrar Prof. Dr. Vijay Khare, have extended their best wishes to the Avishkar team. Dr. Khare expressed optimism about the team’s potential for success, aligning with the university’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Accompanying the squad are key university officials, including the Director of the IQAC department, Dr. Sanjay Dhole, Team Coordinator Dr. Mohan Waman, Dr. Pragati Thakur, OSD Dr. Radhakrishna Thange, and other distinguished members.
The Avishkar event encompasses six domains, each featuring three categories for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and pre-Ph.D. (PPG) projects. Pune University’s squad is strategically divided into three sub-groups for UG, PG, and two sub-groups for PPG categories, presenting a diverse range of projects.
These 48 projects have been selected from a rigorous evaluation process during the university round, where over 3500 projects were showcased across affiliated colleges.
Savitribai Phule Pune University has a commendable track record at the Avishkar event, having secured victory about nine times in the past. Last year, Pune University had the honor of hosting the prestigious science convention, where Mumbai emerged as the winner.
