Pune: Tragic Collision Of Car Claimed Life Of 85-year-Old Army Personnel At Swargate; Driver At Large

Pune: In Pune’s Salisbury Park, Swargate, a retired army personnel was killed after being hit by a speeding car on Monday, November 4. In this case, a complaint was registered against the car driver at Swargate Police Station.

The deceased 85-year-old military personnel is identified as Shambhuji Lal, a resident of Gultekdi. In this case, Shashikala Madiwana (57) has lodged a complaint at Swargate Police Station.

According to the police, the complainant is a caretaker of the deceased army personnel. The deceased Shambhuji Lal was a retired army personnel, and he was living in a flat at Gultekdi after his retirement from the service. As per the complaint, on Monday morning of November 4, Shambhuji Lal was walking on the road from Punawala Garden to Maharshinagar.

At that time, a speeding car driver hit him from behind when he was attempting to cross the road from Signal’s zebra crossing. It has been mentioned that the driver was driving the car above the prescribed speed limit. Fearing the consequences, the driver immediately made a hasty retreat and fled from the scene.

Following the accident, Shambhuji Lal was quickly admitted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

In this regard, a police complaint was lodged at the Swargate Police Station, and Assistant Police Inspector Rahul Kolambikar is investigating further into the case.
