In an effort to streamline the resolution of pending cases related to traffic rule violations, Pune Traffic Police has announced the organization of a Lok Adalat on March 3, 2024. The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for citizens to settle their traffic-related disputes and clear pending cases through a compromise process.

Following a meeting held on August 24, 2023, involving the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Police, the Secretary of Pune District Legal Services Authority, and the First Class Judicial Magistrate, Motor Vehicle Court, Shivajinagar, Pune, the decision to conduct the Lok Adalat was finalized.

A significant development accompanying this initiative is the introduction of a ‘Help Desk’ facility at the Traffic Branch Office, Bungalow No. 6, Near Yerawada Post Office, Pune. Starting from February 8, 2024, this Help Desk serves as a resource for citizens seeking information regarding the relaxation of fines after settling pending traffic bills.

As part of the compromise process, the Lok Adalat will exempt the issuance of pending traffic violation fines on citizens’ vehicles. Drivers or vehicle owners with pending cases related to traffic rule violations are encouraged to visit the Traffic Police Headquarters between 11.00 AM to 14.00 PM and 15.00 PM to 17.00 PM from February 8, 2024, onward to discuss the possibility of reducing fines and reaching a compromise.

This proactive step by Pune Traffic Police is expected to contribute to the efficient resolution of pending traffic cases and promote a cooperative approach between authorities and citizens.
