Pune Traffic Police Unveils New Year Traffic Plan for Camp and Deccan Celebrations

Pune: In anticipation of the grand New Year’s Eve celebrations in Pune Camp and Deccan areas, the Pune Traffic Police have announced temporary changes in traffic arrangements for December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024. With a large number of citizens expected to partake in the festivities, these alterations aim to streamline vehicular movement and avoid traffic congestion.

Traffic Arrangements for Mahatma Gandhi Road, Lashkar (Camp) Area:

  1. Traffic from Y Junction to Mahatma Gandhi Road will be closed at 15 August Chowk and diverted towards Qureshi Masjid and Sujata Mastani Chowk.
  2. From Iskcon Mandir to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue, Aurora towers, vehicular traffic will be closed.
  3. From Volga Chowk to Mohammad Rafi Chowk, traffic will be closed and diverted straight to East Street road to Indira Gandhi Chowk.
  4. From Indira Gandhi Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk, the road shall remain closed and diverted to Indira Gandhi Chowk to Lashkar police station chowk.
  5. From Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk, the road will remain closed and diverted to Taboot street.

Fergusson College and Jangli Maharaj Road Traffic Diversion for December 31, 2023:

  1. Vehicles coming from Kothrud and Karve Road, via Khandojibaba Chowk to Fergusson College, will be diverted through Law College road, Prabhat road, Alka Talkies Chowk.
  2. Vehicles coming from Jangli Maharaj Road to Khandojibaba Chowk, Goodluck Chowk, and other lanes to Fergusson College Road will be closed at Jhansi Rani Chowk and diverted through Pune Municipal Corporation, Omkareshwar Mandir, and Shivaji Road.

No Vehicle Zone in Pune – From December 31, 2023, 7 PM, to January 1, 2024, 5 AM:

  1. Fergusson Road from Goodluck Chowk to Fergusson College Main Gate.
  2. M.G. Road 15 August Chowk to Hotel Aurora Tower.

On December 31, 2023, a special campaign against Drunk and Drive will be conducted by the Traffic Branch from 19:00 hrs to 05:00 hrs. As a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, a single-use Blow Pipe (Plastic Pipe) will be used for each person. Citizens are advised not to consume alcohol and drive during this time.

These measures have been implemented to prevent potential traffic congestion in Pune Camp and Deccan areas during the New Year’s celebrations.
