Pune Traffic Alert: Heavy Vehicular Traffic Restricted in Kondhwa; Check Alternate Routes

In response to heavy traffic congestion in several areas of Kondhwa, the Pune Traffic Police has announced temporary changes to traffic regulations, effective from today (19th March). Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohidas Pawar outlined the measures aimed at addressing the traffic dilemma, particularly during peak hours and the ongoing month of Ramadan.

DCP Rohidas Pawar emphasized that heavy vehicle movement, including tankers, will be restricted during peak hours in various parts of Kondhwa to alleviate congestion. Given the influx of Muslim devotees visiting Kondhwa for Namaz prayers during Ramadan, additional police personnel have been deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety.

Elaborating on the restrictions, DCP Rohidas Pawar stated that heavy vehicle movement will be restricted from 5 pm to 8:30 pm in congested areas, especially near mosques, throughout the Ramadan month. These measures aim to mitigate traffic congestions commonly observed near religious sites.

Key Traffic Restrictions in Kondhwa:

  1. Prohibition of Right Turn for Heavy Traffic and Tankers: Heavy vehicles traveling to Salunkhe Vihar via Fakri Hill from Jyoti Hotel square in Kondhwa will be prohibited from making right turns.
    • Alternative Route: Heavy vehicles can opt for a U-turn under the Lullanagar bridge to reach Salunkhe Vihar.
  2. Prohibition of Left Turn for Heavy Traffic and Tankers: Heavy vehicles heading towards Pargenagar via Mayfair Junction from Jyoti Hotel square will be restricted from making left turns.
    • Alternative Route: Vehicles can proceed straight to Pargenagar via Sheetal Chowk from Jyoti Hotel square.
  3. Ban on Heavy Traffic and Tankers Towards Jyoti Hotel from Pargenagar: Heavy vehicles traveling to Jyoti Hotel from Pargenagar via Mayfair Junction will face restrictions.
    • Alternative Route: Heavy vehicles can approach Jyoti Hotel from Pargenagar via Sheetal Chowk.

These temporary traffic provisions aim to enhance traffic management and ensure the safety and convenience of commuters, particularly during the busy Ramadan period. Motorists are urged to adhere to the prescribed alternate routes and cooperate with traffic authorities to minimize disruptions.
