Pune Swimming Pools Bounce Back: Gas Leak Incident Resolved

Swimming Pool Tender

In response to a recent chlorine gas leak incident at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar swimming pool in Kasarwadi, Pune, five out of seven swimming pools have now been reopened to the public. The incident had raised concerns within the community, affecting multiple individuals, but fortunately, no severe injuries were reported. To ensure the safety of these aquatic facilities, a thorough inspection of the water purification systems was carried out, and necessary improvements were made.

One notable change involves the transition from using chlorine gas to chlorine powder for water purification, significantly enhancing the safety of the treatment process. Following positive water test results, the Sports Department of the Municipal Corporation has made the decision to reopen the swimming pools to the public.

On Monday, October 16, the first five swimming pools in Pimple Gurav, Pimpri village, Sambhajinagar, Wadmukhwadi, and Nehrunagar welcomed visitors once again. The Kasarwadi swimming pool, considered a benchmark for water quality, was reopened later due to extensive testing. However, the Keshavnagar swimming pool remains closed as the water quality has not yet met safety standards, with its reopening scheduled for Saturday.
